Composition:
Each 100 gm contains:
Colistin base 600 MIU
Equivalent to Colistin Sulphate 31.58gm
Super colisol: has dual mode of action
-bactericidal action by disrupting the phospholipids in the bacterial cell membrane, increasing cell permeability causing leakage of cellular components.
-Neutralize the endotoxins produced by toxigenic bacteria (interacts strongly with phospholipids in cell membrane).
Properties:
-Super Colisol it is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, therefore it is very safe, well tolerated without any systemic or local adverse effects.
-Super Colisol can be combined safely with other antibiotics to increase spectrum of activity and to obtain a systemic activity.
-Super Colisol is the antibiotic of choice for highly resistant gram -ve bacteria due to its specific mode of action.
Indications:
-Prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal infections caused by enteric gram negative pathogenic and toxigenic bacteria (e.g: E.Coli, Salmonella, Shigella, hemophilus, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, pseudomonas, Aerobacter,…etc)
-In poultry Super Colisol is indicated in colibacillosis, colisepticaemia, colienteritis, enterotoxicosis, salmonellosis, kelebseillosis…etc
-In caves Super Colisol is indicated in colienteritis, colisepticaemia, calf scour and secondary bacterial diarrhea after viral infections.
Dosage:
For poultry:1gm/6litres of drinking water (4.8 to 6mg of colistine sulphate / kg b.wt.) for 3-5 days
For calves: 2gm/100kg b.wt. (equivalent to 4.8 to 6mg of colistine sulphate/kg b.wt.) to be dissolved in drinking water or milk, for 3-5 days.
